I grew up in Samburu county as well as Laikipia where my parents lived. Our family moved with livestock looking for green pastures and water. I really encountered amazing and fascinating wildlife in my younger years. I saw volunteer rangers in my village, my father being one of them.I found it fascinating to monitor and protect animals.

My dream came true when one of my friends at Samburu lodge gave a lecture about animals and plants. He gave me a pocket mammals book, that is when my journey began. I have been guiding since 2003 I have done various courses on plants, insects and birds. I have been guiding from 2003 -2004 at Marala lodge in Maralal, 2005 -2017 Sosian Lodge in Laikipia and finally from 2017- to-date with Speke’s Camp in Mara.

I was born and raised on the border of Laikipia, Samburu in a village called Ewaso. My village is in the middle of quite a few conservancies ( Loisaba, Naibunga and Narupa) all of these conservancies together form the Northern Rangeland Trust (NRT) .

After my final secondary exams I got an opportunity to join Loisaba conservancy in the tourism department where my career as a Guide started. I was a walking guide in a Loisaba Tented Camp, where I also learnt the trade of hospitality and service.I joined Kenya Wildlife service Training Institute.(KWSTI) where I received my Nature Interpretation and Tour Administration certificate.

I grew up in Mbooni, Makueni county which has lots of hill’s & Forrest’s. Growing up my family would always have conflict with wild game, especially elephants who would destroy all our crops.

This conflict pushed me to learn more about these animals and how we could co-exist together. I Grew a passion to learn about the animals we share a home with. I have over ten years of experience.

I was born in Hulu Village, in Mumela. During my early years as a young boy, and as I grew up I was fascinated by nature, namely birds and their singing and sounds as well as animals and the environment they existed in.

Little did I know my fascination would lead me into the career I cherish today, guiding. During my early years working in mobile camping, it was there I knew I was in the right industry. Amongst nature. Whilst on safari i started to read books on animals, birds and nature as a whole. I feel very connected to nature and the animals that we share it with and to this day I do what I love.
