Speke's Camp

safari ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME

Speke's Camp is a return to the traditional safari camp, designed with privacy, nature and the surrounding riverine and plains in mind.

Close to prime game viewing location; Musiara Swamp, Rhino Ridge & Paradise Plains.
Included in the rate is private use of vehicle for game-drives per booking.

classic tented camp

Small and sweet, we only have seven beautifully appointed safari tents, all are ensuite with flushing toilets & traditional safari bucket showers.

We have a 'Family Pod', which is perfect for a family getaway or larger groups, it's two separate tents about 3 meters apart. A great option for a family with children.

In camp, we have our large, comfortable mess tent.  Filled to the brim with books of all shapes and sizes, learn about Kenyan history, safaris and the animal kingdom.
Our 'chill out lounge' tent overlooks the seasonal river that flows quietly through camp,  a perfect spot to enjoy the serenity and peace that comes with being under canvas.

THE MAASAI MARA

where we are

How to get here

A traditional camp, situated on private land on the eastern edge of the Maasai Mara Reserve,  surrounded by fabulous indigenous trees overhanging the Olare Orok River. Approximately one kilometre from the reserve. Speke's Camp is bordered by Mara North Conservancy and Olare Orok Conservancy. All our game drives are done inside the reserve.
The preferred airstrip is Musiara Airstrip, approximately a 25 minute game drive from camp.
There are daily scheduled flights available to the Mara from Wilson Airport (Nairobi), as well as other popular safari destinations across Kenya. We can pick up you up from Nairobi to, if you prefer a drive rather than a flight.

FANCY STRECTHING YOUR LEGS

Taking it slow on safari, why not stretch your legs. Speke's has fabulous walking safaris through the nearby Loita Hills, also known as the 'Forest of the Lost Child'. Have a read of the recent Conde Nast Traveller article, of the lovely hikes that we run through the 'Forest of The Lost Child' with the Maasai Trails.
